| Karen Bloom (née Shapiro) |
I am a British citizen,
working as a freelance interpreter and translator between English and Japanese.
After graduating with an MA in Interpreting and Translating Japanese and
English from Bath University, UK, in August 1998, I spent 5 years working as
an in-house interpreter and translator in Japan. I am now working as a freelance
interpreter/translator between Japanese and English, and have my main base near
Frankfurt (Germany), with a secondary base in London.
I have worked in a variety
of fields to date, including the automotive industry, social and environmental
issues and law. I have worked extensively in simultaneous, consecutive and liaison
interpreting, including a significant amount of international video conferencing
and telephone conferencing. I also have considerable experience working in the US,
Asia, Africa and Europe.
I am always interested in
taking on a variety of work, and believe that operating out of central Europe makes
me perfectly placed for work-related travel, both domestically and internationally,
as the need arises.
